Cast email

Here is an email that we sent out to all of our cast, telling them all of the details about our shoot. By sending this out we made sure that we knew as soon as possible who could and who couldn't be in our thriller. Email was a good way of getting  information quickly to our cast.

Dear all, we are doing a thriller for our AS project and we were wondering if you could take part in our thriller on the 29th of january?

Please let us know if you are avaliable on this date as soon as possible.

Thank you from, Oli, Charlie and Holly.

All apart from one replied saying that they were available and wanted to be in our thriller. However because we got the quick reply from .... saying he was unable to take part in our thriller we were able to replace him with someone who was available at very short notice.

Target Audience Facebook page

This is a Facebook profile of an example of our target audience. This shows that our primary target audience member is male, in his early twenties. Our target audience age range is specifically in early twenties as it involves government policies and violence. His profile also says that he likes a lot of films that are spy film this shows that he will enjoy our thriller because our film is to do with government and possible spy issues. He also likes the 'BBC', 'The Times' magazine and 'History Weekly' this shows that he is well informerd in issues in the new and is interested in the british history and culture. It will also show that he might know about the issues the West have with the middle East which indicates that he could enjoy our thriller.

Who would distribute our film

Warp Productions would make our film because they haven't filmed a political thriller although  they have done other kinds of thrillers before. They also have helped make films for first time directors. Warp Productions have made films by first time directors including Paddy Considine's 'Tyrannosaur' and  Richard Ayaode's 'Submarine'. They have also made short films (such as 'My Wrongs').
Warp would market and make money out of our film by doing deals with companies such as BBC and Film 4.  They cannot work entirely on their own as they don't have the budgets and therefore look to co-fund their films. The advantage of this is that if the film premiere was set on Film 4 it would make money through adverts which would help to offset costs.Warp has a deal with Optimum Release so they can distribute their films well  - another reason  we chose Warp Productions. Warp has also succeeded in getting  their films in cinemas for example  'Submarine' and 'This is England'. This shows that they can have success on limited budgets and attempt to compete in some small way with Hollywood's dominance of the film industry. Nine out of ten films distributed in English film cinemas are American. The English and European films that do make it into  the cinemas are usually shown in independent film cinemas. Warp specialise in getting films  such as 'This is England' into independent cinemas. Warp would then sell the distribution rights for our film; they would struggle to finance the film considering its complete lack of stars and actors of any repute. however because Warp have a good reputation they could sell European distribution rights in advance. This would help raise the finance for the budget and help us make it. They could also make money out of merchandise and DVD sales. We see DVD and TV as the main ways they would make money out of our film, so by creating a release window between cinema release and DVD release they can keep the public interest in the film going.

similar thriller films

There are a range of films that are similar to our opening sequence of a thriller. They all involve an assassination or conspiracy against the US government or president.

The film JFK is similar to our thriller
as it involves the assassination of
JFK, the American President. It also
 involves conspiracies.

The film 'Death of a President' is a
fictional film about the death of an American
president which is similar to our film. It
explores involves international conspiracies
which involves groups such as Al-Qaeda.

The film 'Enemy of the State' is similar to our film
because it is a conspiracy involving the US
government. It is also an action thriller like
our thriller.

What I've understood
The first thing you see in the title sequences is the main stars names (this is probably because they are the stars of the show and the audience will probably watching these shows because of the stars). The director and producers name are a long way after the main stars names (this is perhaps because the main stars of the films are more important).
