organic and synthetic ideologies

Organic and synthetic Ideologies

Organic and Synthetic ideologies were created by Keith Negus. The ideologies show whether the artist has had the music industry influence or original ideas and image. Organic ideology is when the artist is more original and naturalistic. It is more about the artists talent. This ideology is aimed at an older or more sophisticated audience. Synthetic ideology is more about the performance. They are
often easily controlled by the music industry companies. Synthetic artists often use their looks or personalities to sell themselves and their music.

An example of an organic artist is Katie Melua. She has a natural beauty to her and has an amazing voice, most of her songs are original. Her look is very down to earth and not extravagant. Her is a picture of her from her album cover. In this she is wearing a small amount of clothing and casual clothing this applies to her music and appeals to her audience. Showing that her music is chilled back but sophisticated. Her music videos are very down to earth and does not have irrelevant story lines and extravagant decorations.

An example of a synthetic artist is Nicki Minaj. She uses very extravagant costume and performances. She does this to sell herself and her music. This reflects on her music as they are empty and shallow so she has to sell them. This is a picture of her album cover. It is filled with pink colours and extravagant miss-ens-scene this is to help sell to her audience. Her audience is a mostly early teens. Her music videos are mostly irrelevant story lines and elaborate set designs and costumes.
