This is the email we sent to the main cast members for the shoot on the 18th November.

'Boring' Animatics

Storyboarding helps us to see what we want in each shot- this will help us on the day of the shoot so we know what we are exactly going to do. For animatics we film each individual shot from the storyboards. Animatics helps to give us a visual image of what our music video will look like. The animatics helped us worked out the timings and if the music and pictures worked well together.

For the animatics we went to the editing suite to edit the shots with the music. We had to get the each shot and match it to the exact time to the lyrics of the music. Doing the animatics helped us discover that we need some additional shots in our music video and storyboard.

I think that doing the animatic has been successful in constructing the star image and to be able to reach the target audience.

Props

In order to get our props we have to send the set designers a props list of what they get and also a prop list of what we are getting.

Album covers

In our group we are deciding what we should do for our album cover. We will later have to do a photoshoot with our artist. We looked at artists such Lana Del Rey, Florence and the machine, Paloma Faith and Scissor sisters. We want the album to reflect the star image the singers.

We are looking at mirrors for album cover ideas this is to play on that they are twins. We looked at Madonna's and 'Florence and the machine's' album.

We looked at using an album cover using a bed and a sofa as we are using a bed and a sofa in one of our narrative scenes. 

We looked at using a glamourous look for the album to match their image-rich and glamourous. Lana del Rey, Paloma Faith and Selena Gomez uses quite glamourous looking album covers.

This is the album of the artist whose song we are using. We looked at using this album but we want to do an actual photoshoot.

The record label

To use the song 'Boring' by the Pierces we have to go through their record label (Lizard King) that they are signed to. Lizard King is an London-based independent label. Martin Heath owns Lizard King and it was set up in 2004.

We sent the record label Lizard King an email to use the song Boring by the Pierces. This is to stop any issues in advance we may have had to face with copy rights to the song.

Interview with the set-designers

Our group had a meeting with the set designer for our ideas. We went through each scene and discussed ideas and props.
This is a list of the scenes :

• Red curtain with spotlight (main performance scene)
• In the studio with an infinity curve (white background) for close ups
• Expensive sofa in hotel lobby
• Hotel room with double bed
• Crowd surfing
• Car and road scene

In the meeting we also discussed using mirrors to play on that the main characters are twins. The scenes that we thought of were all approved and we now need to make a prop list for each scene.

Set deisgn

We had to make a set design for our interview tomorrow with the set designer. We used lots of colours to illustrate the detail in each scene on A3 pieces of card. These are the drawings we have done of the stage scene, bedroom scene and sofa scene.
